Travel Diary: Seven Magic Mountains, Las Vegas, Nevada
Admittedly, this isn't one of my usual travel diary posts. This was more of a day trip, just a short drive outside of Las Vegas. I still wanted to post this because I loved my experience and I wanted to share it with you!
Seven Magic Mountains by Ugo Rondinone is a large-scale piece of desert artwork right outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is comprised of these huge, locally-sourced, painted boulders stacked on top of each other. This is the first large scale desert artwork in Nevada since the 1960s! It opened May 11, 2016 and will remain open for two years.
This art piece is a refreshing addition to local Las Vegas attractions. If you are planning to visit, please consider taking a day to experience Las Vegas for what it truly is, a desert filled with unexpected color. Seven Magic Mountains is a beautiful symbol of that message.
I took this little day trip with Noah to celebrate our two and a half year anniversary! It is crazy to me that we have been dating that long. I know two years isn't a long time in the scheme of things, but when you're nineteen and you met at sixteen, it sure feels like forever! We even accidentally matched! I promise you I did not plan for us to both wear aqua shirts and tan shorts. It is totally something I would do, but this time, it was all fate.
When we took these pictures, I was trying to make my selfie stick work as a monopod because I'm stubborn and don't like having strangers take pictures of me. Thankfully, a really nice guy with a professional camera around his neck came over and offered and I couldn't say no to that. He took these amazing pictures that I love and even found my picture on instagram and commented on it! Ah, the power of the internet.
I originally planned for this post to be an outfit post but none of the pictures of me facing the camera dramatically posing turned out well. So here's this picture of me dramatically posing facing away from the camera! Also, now that I think about it, I don't actually remember where any of my clothing items are from because I got them two summers ago. So that would also have been a problem.
Thank you for reading! This blog has almost gotten 1000 views and that is so exciting for me! I know that's not really a lot of views compared to other blogs, but for me it is so fun to know that 1000 people have read my blog! So many exclamation points!
Let me know how you feel about Seven Magic Mountains in the comments! Also, let me know if you would like to see more of these local/day trip travel guides. I'm always up for questions, comments, and criticism so just let me know!
Again, thank you so much for reading!
