Summer "No Makeup" Beauty Routine - Perfect for Swimming, Camping, etc!
As you are reading this I am currently on a camping trip in Utah! I have a few camping related posts scheduled to go up while I'm gone and this is one of them. I've actually never scheduled a post before so hopefully this works!
Today I am sharing with you my go to "no makeup" beauty routine that I use anytime I go swimming, camping, hiking, etc. Anything where I'm going to be in the sun, sweating, or getting wet. This beauty routine is perfect because it gives your face the appearance of being made up without the actual work and products. When I'm camping, I don't like to bring a huge bag of makeup and spend a ton of time in the morning doing myself up. However, I still like to look good in case of pictures! Plus, this beauty routine has the added benefit of protecting your skin, which is crucial during summer activities!
These are the products I use. Just seven simple products that can be easily packed in a small toiletry bag. I got all of these products from the drug store except for the eyebrow products. All of these products can be easily swapped out for either something you already have or something better suited for your skin type and personal preference!
Step 1
Start by rinsing your face and applying a day moisturizer with SPF in it. This is an important step because you want your face to be clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun. This will also help the rest of your makeup stay on longer. I use a travel sized oil free moisturizer with SPF 15 from Neutrogena.
Step 2
Next, apply a face primer. This is an important step because it will also help your makeup stay on longer. I love the Elf face primers, right now I've been using the Blemish Control primer and I really like it. You can use any primer that works for your skin.
Step 3
This is arguably the most important part. If you're lazy, you could skip all the rest of the products and just do this! You will need some kind of tinted moisturizer or BB cream with SPF in it. I love this Rimmel Matte BB Cream with SPF 15. It has some really good coverage for a BB cream and the matte finish helps cancel out any shine the SPF would bring. I hate BB creams that look shiny and greasy!
Step 4
This is probably my favorite step, because I feel like eyebrows can make or break your look. I just feel like if my eyebrows are done, I look a million times better even if I don't have any other makeup on. I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow, but there are a lot of good brow products at the drugstore now that would work. The key is to use a brow product that is gel based because it won't come off as easily as a powder would.
Step 5
For this step, we're framing our eyes with some waterproof mascara. I love this Manga Eyes mascara, you don't even need to curl your lashes because the wand curls them so well. You can use any waterproof mascara you want, maybe just get the waterproof version of your favorite mascara!
Step 6
For this step, we're moisturizing our lips while adding a little bit of color. I love these Maybelline Babylips, but there are a lot of tinted lip balms becoming popular right now, so take your pick! I also like to put a little dab on the apples of my cheeks and blend it out like a cream blush. It adds a nice coloring to your face!
Step 7
To finish up, use a setting spray to set all your makeup and to refresh your face. Throw your setting spray in your bag and spray throughout the day when your face needs a little pick me up. I use Elf's setting spray and I love it.
That's it! I love this look, especially for camping trips when you feel gross and just want to look decent for the inevitable photo ops. It sounds dramatic, but I've been in that situation more times than I care to admit. Of course, there are a lot of times that I go without makeup completely, but sometimes you just want to have a little makeup on! When I was younger, I always felt pressured to not wear makeup during these situations and I would be mocked if I did wear makeup. Now that I'm older, I feel comfortable enough to either wear makeup or not depending on however I feel! So if you prefer the natural look, that's amazing, but if you want a little more coverage, try this look out.
How about you? Do you prefer a fresh face when you go swimming or camping? Or would you rather have a little coverage?
Hope summer is going well for everyone. I know I'm enjoying camping! I'm excited to share pictures from the trip on here. It's going to be a part 2 of my first Dixie National Forest Travel Diary. I also want to try to film some videos and edit them into my first ever video! Not sure how well that will turn out or if I'll ever post it, but it's something I've wanted to try for awhile now.
Thanks for reading!

OOO I love your no makeup beauty routine! I've tried a drug store BB cream before (By Maybelline) and totally broke out with it! So now I'm skeptical to try another. I have crazy sensitive skin! Yours is perfect so I can see how it would work for you <3

I feel your pain! It always sucks when new beauty products just don't work with your skin! Thanks for your sweet comment!
