TRAVEL DIARY | Lake Tahoe and Reno, NV! (+ A Video!)

I am so happy to finally be sharing this trip with you! A few weeks ago, I went on this amazing trip with a few of my close friends. I was able to spend time in Lake Tahoe and Reno, two places I had never been before! This trip was such a dream, I hope you enjoy this post!

Before I move on to pictures, I just want to share the video I made with you guys! Every new video I make, I enjoy it more and I learn more. This is probably my favorite video so far, I think I did a really good job of capturing the dreamy quality of the trip. It would mean a lot to me if you would watch this video, maybe give it a like or a comment, etc. I am still learning and I am very open to constructive criticism. Okay, moving on to pictures!

I spent the first half of the week in Lake Tahoe with two of my childhood best friends. We stayed in a beautiful resort and went to a bunch of amazing beaches. My favorite beach by far was Sand Harbor. This was the only beach we went to where people were actually in swimsuits and in the water. Every other beach was filled with fully clothed tourists! The water was freezing because it was June, but the sun was warm and we all got badly sunburned. The other aspect of Sand Harbor that is incredible is if you follow the trail away from the beach, you come to this beautiful area with rocks and lower water levels, like I show in the title picture and youtube thumbnail. It was like something out of a movie! In my opinion, Sand Harbor is the best beach in Tahoe, and it's on the Nevada side, which I am extremely partial to, being from Nevada.

The second half of the trip, I was able to spend time in Reno with one of my best friends from high school, Hannah. She lives and goes to school in Reno with her boyfriend, who is also a friend from high school. We spent a lot of time in Midtown, which is this cool little area of town that they're trying to make really hip for young people. There were really cool thrift stores, wall art (my fave!!), and the best part, amazing places to eat! We ate at this place called SUP, where I got an amazing hummus platter and broccoli cheddar soup. Life. Changing.!! I need to go visit Reno again, just for the soup.

Another thing we did in Reno was walk through the University of Nevada campus. That was cool for me, because UNR was my second choice for school and I almost ended up going there. It was interesting to see what could have been! I was so glad to get to spend so much time with Hannah. I think my favorite part of my time with her was our High School Musical marathon. Those are our favorite movies and we can quote basically every line! While I was with Hannah, we also made a video on her channel. We used to make videos on her channel all the time in high school, so this was such a fun little throwback and I'll post it below.

This trip was planned very last minute and ended up being a complete blast. I hope you enjoyed these pictures and stories from my trip, I know I loved looking back on the memories. Again, it would mean so much to me if you could watch the first video I posted up above, the Travel Diary I made. Also make sure to check out my video with Hannah, directly above.

What trips do you have planned this summer? Have you ever visited Reno or Lake Tahoe? Let me know in the comments below! I am always open to questions and constructive criticism.

BEST OF | Wet n Wild Makeup! My favorite NEW + OLD products!

Wet n Wild has been killing the drugstore makeup game lately! I used to think of Wet n Wild as being a cheap brand with cheap products, but lately they have been upping their game an insane amount. I can honestly say Wet n Wild is one of my top favorite makeup brands right now. Along with putting out amazing products, this company is also certified cruelty free which is so important to me. Keep reading to see descriptions of the Wet n Wild products I've been LOVING!

Photo Focus Foundation

  •  This is Wet n Wild's newest foundation, and it has been all over the internet, and for good reason! It is only $5 and offers incredible coverage. This foundation comes in a large range of shades, which is so nice to see from a drugstore brand. I have personally been loving this foundation for the few months that I've been using it. The shade is perfect for me and it is a perfect matte-but-not-too-matte formula. It stays on all day and looks as natural as a good coverage foundation can.

Photo Focus Concealer

  •  I got this concealer once I realized how much I loved the foundation. I am a big believer in using foundations and concealers from the same line, because they have similar formulas and are made to be used together. This concealer is very thick, unlike the NYX one I had used forever. The thickness definitely helps hide blemishes and undereye circles. It is good enough coverage that I can use it without foundation and still cover all my problem areas.

Coverall Primer

  • This primer is so inexpensive and works so well for me. It feels very thin at first, but it applies almost like a gel. It makes me skin feel like a smooth sheet before putting on my foundation. A little goes a long way and there is a lot of product in the little tube. You are definitely getting a great deal for the price.

MegaGlo Contouring Pallet

  • This is a great quality contour pallet. I used it for a little bit, but found that the contour shade is a little too light and warm for my taste. However, the lighter shade is perfect for setting my foundation and concealer. I pack it onto my undereyes for better coverage or just use a kabukki brush to set my whole face. These powders are very finally milled and buttery. They do make a mess with powder getting everywhere, but they last months and are so inexpensive, they're definitely worth it.

MegaGlo Highlight Stick

  • This is the first cream highlight stick that I've ever tried and I love it! The color and pigment are so pretty and it lasts so long. I love using this for days when I'm spending a lot of time outside or as a base for a more pigmented powder highlight on days that I really want to pack a punch. The only thing I didn't like about this product is that, as you can see, the black print on the packaging spreads and gets everywhere. I seriously had black ink all over my face before I realized where it was coming from! I would recommend just being careful not to touch or washing it off before you use it. It's a shame, because it's really cute packaging.

Contour Brush

  • Wet n Wild's brushes are all synthetic, inexpensive, and seriously so cute. I only have this contour brush, but I use it every day and I am obsessed with it. I definitely recommend these brushes and I will definitely be getting more in the future.

PhotoFocus Setting Spray

  • This is first setting spray I have tried other than the ELF one I've been using for forever, and I have to say I'm impressed. The spray is way more even and powerful, which took some getting used to, but I like it. It does have quite a strong chemical smell, almost like chlorine, but you only get one breath of it and then it goes away. It definitely keeps my makeup on longer than the ELF one ever did! It is good quality for a great price, but I do think I'll try different setting sprays in the future. This isn't my holy grail.

MAX Volume Waterproof Mascara

  • I got this mascara because I needed a waterproof one for my Spring Break trip. I hadn't read any reviews or anything on it before I used it, which is pretty rare for me. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I love this mascara. It really feels like it makes my eyelashes look fake in a natural way... if that makes sense. I really like it and it does such a good job of being waterproof!

1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Polish

  • I had heard such good things about this nail polish, but I was hesitant because nail polish seriously hates me. It messes up and chips within the first few hours. Well, I am happy to say that this nail polish lasts me up to a week! Doesn't seem that long, but that's actually life changing for me. It is pricier than I usually spend on nail polish, but I'm okay with spending a little more on products that have proved themselves to me. There is a huge variety of colors that I'm excited to try, but right now this mauvey pink color is my love. Definitely give this a try, especially if you have trouble finding nail polishes that work for you.

I hope this post was helpful for you! I know I love reading real reviews from people who have actually used the product, so that's why I really wanted to share my honest opinions on these great products. TRAVEL DIARY | Spring Break in Las Vegas and Southern California! (+ A Video)

I am so excited to finally be sharing pictures and video from my Spring Break trip this year! I'm a few weeks late posting this, but better late than never is usually my motto. Before I get into the pictures and details about the trip, I want to take a minute to share the video I made for this trip with you! This is my third travel diary video I have made and I am so proud of it. I worked really hard on it and I am so happy with how it turned out. It really captures the feel of the trip perfectly! It would mean so much to me if you would give it a watch and maybe even like or comment! I am definitely up for any advice or constructive criticism as well.

Now to move onto the pictures! As always, all of these pictures are by Christine, my friend and our group's personal photographer basically. This Spring Break was basically a week long double date vacation! My boyfriend at the time, Taylor, and I went with our friends Christine and Spencer, who are also dating. We are also all just great friends. It was such a fun trip to spend with my friends!

We started out our trip in my hometown, Las Vegas. My best friend, Leonor, joined us for our adventures in Downtown Las Vegas. We only had one full day in Vegas, so this day was jam packed! We visited Container Park, Freemont Street, and DTLV to walk through the Mob Museum, which is my favorite museum in Las Vegas. Let me know if in the future you would want me to do a Las Vegas travel guide, since I do consider myself a local and I am very familiar with some cool spots! I've also been wanting to do a guide to Las Vegas wall art, so let me know if you'd be interested in that as well.

The next day of our trip was a driving day. We made our way to California, but we just had to make a stop at Seven Magic Mountains! I am a big fan of this beautiful desert artwork. I have a full post from last summer when I visited it that goes into detail and has more pictures, so check that out if you're interested! Also, I don't think that I mentioned that I dyed my hair purple for this trip. This is the third time I've dyed my hair purple and the second time this year. The dye I use fades out into pretty pink streaks as you'll see in later pictures. I'll be doing a more detailed hair update soon!

Finally in California!!! We spent time in Cypress, Huntington, Carlsbad, and Vista. All of these pictures are from Ponto Beach, because the weather and the scenery this day were the most beautiful. The greenery and rocks with the Ocean background? Seriously dreamy. This was probably my favorite day of the whole trip. After spending all day at the beach, we went to dinner and bought over $100 of sushi. Everything was so good and I was so happy and content afterwards.

On our way back home, we decided to spend another night in Vegas which quickly turned into... getting tattoos!! Taylor, Christine, and I all got our first tattoos and it was so fun. The heart above is the one I got. It was a very last minute decision, I've never been interested in tattoos at all, but I'm so glad I did it. Watch the end of the video I posted above to see footage of all of us getting them!

Hopefully you enjoyed this little recap of my Spring Break. Hopefully I'll have some fun trips this summer that I can share. Again, if you haven't already, please go check out my video for this trip that I posted above!!

What did you do for your Spring Break? What are your summer vacation plans? Let me know in the comments below! Also, let me know if you're interested in seeing a Las Vegas travel guide/wall mural guide!

The Best DRUGSTORE + CRUELTY FREE Makeup Products! (My Updated Makeup Collection)

It was almost a year ago now that I posted my first beauty related post on this blog! It just so happens that that post was my drug store makeup collection. Over the last year I decided to switch to only using cruelty free makeup products and my knowledge of makeup has also increased in that time, so my current makeup collection is almost all new products! Every single one of the products I will be sharing with you are products I LOVE and use often if not daily. I am so excited to be sharing my makeup collection with you today, hope you enjoy!

Foundation: Wet n Wild Photo Focus
Concealer: NYX HD Concealer
Color Correcting Concealer: NYX Color Correction Concealer

  • I have used a few different foundations in the past year, but this one has to be my favorite. And here's a secret, I just got it this week! I'm already in love with it. It has a demi matte finish, so I don't feel too matte or too dewy, and it has very good medium to heavy coverage and matches my skin perfectly.
  • The NYX concealer comes in a ton of shades and does so well at covering my blemishes as well as brightening my under eye. The only bummer about it is that it runs out very quickly.
  • The color correction concealer is something I don't use a lot, but when I do I'm always happy with it. I use the green for pimple redness and the yellow and peach for under eye circles and it always leaves my skin even toned and glowing.

Face Primer: Wet n Wild Coverall Primer
Eye Primer: ELF
Setting Spray: ELF Mist & Set

  • I recently started using this primer after only ever using the ELF primers (which I still love) and I am so happy with it. It smooths my skin and it keeps my foundation on for a long time. It's also very inexpensive and comes with a lot of product.
  • This ELF eye primer is the only one I've ever used and it has always worked really well for me. It is very inexpensive so I'm happy with it. I'm not 100% in love with it and I probably will be giving other eye primers a try, but if you are looking for a solid inexpensive eye primer, I recommend this one.
  • I have only ever used this setting spray and I'm happy with it. Like the eye primer, I do think I will give other setting sprays a try, but as of now I am happy with what I'm getting for the price.

ELF Powder Contour Pallet
ELF Creme Contour Pallet
Wet n Wild Contouring Pallet
ELF Blush and Bronzing Powder

  • When I first started contouring last year, I fell in love with the L'Oreal pallet. When I decided to go cruelty free, it was a struggle finding a new contouring pallet that I liked as much as I liked that one. I first tried the Wet n Wild pallet, but the contour was too light and warm toned for me. Other than that, it is an amazing quality pallet and I highly recommend it if you are warmer toned. From the Wet n Wild pallet, I mostly use the highlight shade as under eye setting powder. I'm actually almost out of it and I'm so sad about it. When I finally tried the ELF contouring pallets, I fell in love. The darkest shade in the powder contour kit is perfect for me and I use it every day. I haven't used the creme pallet very much, but from what I can tell it is amazing as well.
  • The ELF Blush and Bronzing powder is the same one I've been using since last year. I really like the shimmer in the bronzer and blush and I use it a lot when it gets warmer out!

ELF Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls
Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight
Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Pallet

  • The ELF highlighter is my favorite to use. If applied normally, it adds a nice pretty shimmer and if applied with a wet brush, it is WOW! The secret to this baked highlighter is that there is a film on top that you have to scrape off before you can see amazing results.
  • The Essence pure nude highlighter is so subtle and pretty. It is almost the same color as my skin, so it just adds the tiniest most natural looking glow and I love it.
  • This Revolution highlighter packs a punch. It is definitely extremely pigmented and it's for when you want one of those blinding highlights.
  • Honestly, this Wet n Wild highlighting pallet kind of disappointed me. The lightest colors are really pretty but the other two are just too dark to be a highlighter for me. They are also more shear than pigmented. However, sometimes you just want a more shear highlight and I do like that it came with a good shade range. It's good for travel!

Arbonne Blush in Ballet
Milani Powder Blush in Blossomtime Rose

  • I don't know if Arbonne counts as a drug store brand, but I did want to share this because it has been my favorite blush for about two years now. It is such a pretty natural color and it's matte which I love.
  • I couldn't resist trying this Milani rose blush. Prettiest packaging EVER! This is also a very pretty color, but you have to make sure to apply with a light hand because it is very pigmented.

Mascara: NYX Double Stacked

  • I never thought I would find a mascara better than the manga eyes one I used to use, but this one blew me away! The mascara on it's only lengthens your lashes to a crazy extent and then adding a layer of fibers gives you the appearance of wearing falsies. I am so happy with this mascara!

Liquid Eyeliner: NYX Collection Noir
Gel Eyeliner: ELF Creme Eyeliner
Pencil Eyeliner: Milani Glitter Easyliner in Emerald Stone

  • I went through a phase where I wanted to try gel liner, so I gave this ELF one a try. I liked it a lot and I think I would continue to use it if I got a finer tip brush. However, I ended up switching back to liquid liner and decided to give this NYX liner a try. I like the color and texture and it stays on for so long, but my brush got clumpy very easily and it's really hard to get a precise line because of it, so I think I'll continue to try new liquid liners.
  • I've had this Milani emerald eyeliner for forever and I just recently started using it again. It is a really good color to use with my green eyes. I also use the smudging sponge on the other end to apply eyeshadow colors to my lower lash line. Sometimes I use bronze, sometimes purple, but I really like the look of smokey under eye mascara.

Eyebrows: ELF Brow Pencil

  • For my eyebrows, I usually use my Anastasia Dipbrow. However, sometimes if I want a lighter look or an easier application, I'll use this ELF brow pencil. It works very well and the spooly brush on the end blends it very naturally. It is an amazing product, especially for the price. Definitely on par with any other similar drug store product for a fraction of the cost!

ELF Mini Book
Essence How To Make Nude Eyes Pallet

  • This ELF mini book has a good mix of neutral colors in a wide range of shades, both shimmery and matte. I use this a lot for crease shades. The Essence pallet has six shades that are still very neutral but they are also all shimmery, so I tend to wear them when I want a more dramatic smokey eye.

Wet n Wild Color Icon in Petal Pusher
ELF Prism Eyeshadow in Sunset

  • This Wet n Wild pallet in Petal Pusher is so pretty. I got it when I wanted to start wearing color. Purple is my favorite color and it also goes well with green eyes, so this pallet was perfect. It wasn't as pigmented as I wanted it to be, but I'm still very happy with the colors I got for the price. The ELF prism eyeshadows are beautiful! I don't even know how else to describe them. I got the sunset pallet and the colors definitely live up to the name. I highly recommend this pallet.

Hard Candy Glitteratzi Gel Pallet

  • I got this for New Years and was not disappointed. I wore mine over powder eyeshadow and set it with a little bit more powder and it stayed all night. However, I have noticed that if you don't wear it with powder and set it, it clumps up and gets everywhere. So beware of that!

Liquid Lipstick:
Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in Precious, Devotion, and Metallic Mattely In Love
NYX Liquid Suede in Tea & Cookies, Life's A Beach, and Subversive Socialite
NYX Lip Lingerie in Lace Detail

  • The past year I have worn nothing but matte liquid lipstick. I am obsessed. These are the best drug store matte liquid lipsticks that I have found. Milani is my absolute favorite, but NYX is a close second. Definitely give them a try.

Lip Pencils:
ELF Chubby Stick in Berry Sorbet

  • I don't wear this very often because, like I said, I've been wearing exclusively liquid lipsticks. But, I do like these chubby sticks from ELF. They are very pretty and inexpensive and the bottom pops off into a sharpener. It's really handy! I recommend trying this if you're interested in this kind of lipstick.

Beauty Sponge: Real Techniques
Contour Brush: Wet n Wild
Kabuki Brush: ELF
Highlight Brush: Forever 21
Eyelash Curler: Unknown
Silver Eyeshadow Brushes: Sonia Kashuk
Black Eyeshadow Brushes: ELF

  • Wet n Wild and ELF brushes are inexpensive and great quality synthetic brushes. Sonia Kashuk uses real animal hair, but obtains it in a way that has been deemed cruelty free. I got these brushes a long time ago, they were actually a gift and the first makeup brushes I ever owned. I don't think I will buy from Sonia Kashuk in the future just because I think synthetic brushes are the only way to be actually cruelty free, in my opinion. However, that decision is up to everyone individually. I also just recently started using a beauty blender and I am obsessed. I'm so happy I finally switched over from using my fingers!

Well, this turned out to be a long post! I didn't intend for it to be so long, but I wanted to make sure to be as detailed and honest as possible in my descriptions of my makeup products. Hopefully this was helpful for some of you and you got some ideas of products that interest you!

If you are interested in seeing how I wear my makeup, my daily makeup routine or a look with any of the specific products, let me know in the comments! I would love to hear your input!

Thank you so much for reading!

REVIEW | Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick! (Swatches on arm + lips)

Here I am, back with another matte lip cream post! I swear to you, this is the only kind of lipstick I wear anymore. I tried to wear some of my old regular lipsticks recently and it didn't look or feel right. Matte lipsticks have been my obsession for almost a year now. If you haven't seen my drugstore matte lip cream post yet, I highly recommend checking it out. I worked really hard on that post and tried a lot of different matte lip creams before I decided on the best ones.

Today, I am super excited to be reviewing Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks. I fell in love with these liquid lipsticks before they even came out. Back in high school, my friend Hannah (hi, Hannah!) showed me the swatches on Jeffree Star's instagram before he had even released them. We were both amazed by how a liquid lipstick could possibly dry fully matte with such astounding pigment! This was back before matte lip creams had really made an appearance to the general public. Anyway, about three or so years later, I was lucky enough to get four JS lipsticks for Christmas from my cousin, Kara. I was so excited to try them and get my first impressions, as well as to wear them over a few weeks to get a good feel for them. It's been over a month since I got them, so I feel like I have a good feel on how they work. This will be a very honest review, so keep reading!

The colors I have are Masochist, Redrum, Designer Blood, and Dominatrix. These are all very red toned shades, except for Dominatrix, which is a true brown. I mostly wear red shades, so my cousin picked out the perfect selection. She also got me two lip scrubs, in Gingerbread and Hot Cocoa. They work really well but aren't too different from any other lip scrub I've tried.

To start off, I want to say that I have a lot that I love about these lipsticks, but also a lot that I'm not very fond of. My first impressions didn't live up to my expectations, which was kind of a bummer. However, I still made sure to give them a fair chance and I wore them a good amount over the last month to see how they would wear and how I could improve the parts I didn't love. Here's what I've got so far:

  • They have amazing pigment and the colors are absolutely beautiful
  • They are incredibly long lasting (and even hard to get off!)
  • They are vegan and cruelty free
  • They dry matte very quickly and don't show fine lines

  • They never fully dry down, they are always a bit tacky without feeling actually sticky
  • They are not transfer proof at all. The color will end up all over your drink or food or whoever you're kissing.
  • They do feather during long wear
  • The brush applicator is awful. This is my biggest con. It is almost impossible to accentuate your cupid's bow without getting it all over your face (and once it's on your face, it's almost impossible to get off).

Okay, now that you know my general pros and cons, let's get into the specific shades!

Masochist is a beautiful red toned pink. The website describes it as a "dark pink," but for me it is very bright as opposed to dark. I wish it showed up darker on my lips, I think I would wear it a lot more if it did. However, this will be a great color for spring and summer and I'm excited to get a lot of wear out of it during that time!

Redrum is definitely my favorite out of all of them. I am a sucker for a good solid red lipstick, and that is what this is. I honestly can't describe it anymore than that. It is a classic bright red, and if red can be neutral, this is a neutral red. I could wear this shade with everything I own.

Designer Blood

Designer Blood was a limited edition shade around the holidays. It is said to be the popular Unicorn Blood shade with added gold in it for a shine. This shade really doesn't turn out looking like the shade in the bottle. It dries a very beautiful burgundy color. This is probably my second favorite shade, it is guaranteed to get me lots of compliments when I wear it!

Dominatrix is a true brown. It is dark and has beautiful pigment. For anyone looking for a true brown without any other tones in it, this is the shade for you! I personally don't know if I can pull it off and I don't think I'll wear it much now that winter is over, but maybe next fall I'll be able to wear it more.

Here's some arm swatches. As you can see, the colors are amazing and they dry beautifully. Even with the cons, I'm still very happy with these and I wear them a good amount.

I hope this review was helpful for some of you! It was fun to get all my thoughts on these in one place. A lot of the reviews I had looked up on the JS lipsticks were either not very helpful or didn't seem very honest. I wanted to be completely real in this post.

Let me know if you've ever tried Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks and if so, which ones are your favorite!

Thanks for reading!
